CENTENNIAL QUILT SHOW ANNOUNCED!

September 8, 2016
CENTENNIAL QUILT SHOW ANNOUNCED!To celebrate the Lions Centennial at the 2017 Iowa Lions State Convention a Centennial Quilt Show has been announced. The Centennial Quilt Show Committee would like to invite anyone and everyone to enter this show. The theme for the show is "MEMORIES OF THE PAST ....DREAMS OF THE FUTURE". The entries don't necessarily have to be made by a Lion member. If a Club would like to have a local community member make the quilt for them and the Club enter it in the show that is totally acceptable, as long as the Club furnishes the material. There will be four categories, T-Shirt quilts, Large quilts(Bed size), Medium quilts(Lap/Wall Hanging) and Small quilts(Table runners or Smaller Wall Hanging). Prizes will be given in each category for the people's choice as voting will be done by those in attendance at the convention. The committee wants the quilts to be judged on content and technical skills. Also, each quilt must have a label on the back with the name of the maker and date as swell as a letter explaining the meaning of their quilt. All quilts will be collected around May 1, 2017 and they will be raffled off after the show at the convention with the proceeds going to the Iowa Lions Foundation and the Lions Clubs International Foundation. Clubs are highly encouraged to enter and have fun celebrating Lions next 100 years! For more details contact Lion Betty Shutters at 515-278-8595 or bnbshutters@gmail.com.

BEEP BASEBALL WORLD SERIES A GREAT SUCCESS!

October 3, 2016
BEEP BASEBALL WORLD SERIES A GREAT SUCCESS!In July the Iowa Lions Foundation presented the National Beep Baseball World Series! This year the weather cooperated and the athletes and volunteers had a great time. Beep Baseball is the adaptive version of the traditional game of baseball for the blind and visually impaired. We had 20 teams from around the United States come to Ames and compete for the title. The Colorado Storm took home the trophy by defeating the Boston Renegades in the Championship game. This great undertaking would not have been possible without the Lions Clubs of Iowa donating to the cause and supplying volunteers for the event. The Foundation would like to thank all the volunteers that came out to help. The NBBA enjoys brining the World Series to Ames and appreciates all the Lions of Iowa do for the event. We plan on bringing the tournament back sometime in the very near future. If you are interested in volunteering the next time this event is in Iowa contact our Iowa Lions State Office, 2300 S Duff Ave., Ames, IA 50010. Call us at 515-232-2215 or email at iowalions@aol.com. Keep checking back to our website for more details as to when the Tournament will be back!!
